Mistrust...

After the mummy falls, we all get everyone together and get the heals on everyone. Baldin and Endel crack the top of the sarcophagus, inside is numerous jewels and a large amount of gold. Baldin and Endel shut it immediately. "What the hell," Aidan said. Baldin went on about not defiling the grave of a cleric. I bring up the fact that this could help us in getting spell components among other useful things. He continues to be obtuse about it. I bring up the fact that I picked the lock to the front door and that would be considered trespassing on sacred ground which would be bad as well. We go back and forth for several minutes. There is nothing I could do to change his mind at all. "this is BS, why is there so much mistrust towards me," Aidan says. Baldin continues to say what he's been saying. I'm pretty upset about the lack of trust at this point, so I continue to drag out the discussion.

In the back of my mind, I realize that I can just come back and take it when they aren't here...but that's not really the point.

I wake up...again

I open my eyes and I'm alive!!!! Woohoo. I awake to see that we are in a broken down building, around the area that I made the mark. I feel fine. Wondering what the hell just happened. Oh well...death toll 1.

Terra and Endel are in the city where the high Cleric is in order to Resurrection Endel. So, me, Baldin, and Gildere are taking watches. I'm on second shift for the night. Thankfully nothing happens that night.

Terra and Endel show up the next day, Endel is alive. She tells us that she learned, from the high level cleric, that she can Power Word Kill the dracolich. Information that would have been useful..YESTERDAY!!! :( We head back, Baldin soups her up with a bunch of anti-fire stuff. Baldin goes through, appears to be in pain. The Dracolich jumps up and leaps towards Terra, she casts and the dragonlich goes POOF!!! Awesome...much easier this time.

We move inside, make sure there are no traps on teh door, picked it and walk in. Statues on either side near the wall, double row of pews to dias at the front, where a guy in brown robes is standing. Baldin takes a step forward...and I appear in a forest. 1000s of skeletons, a half dozen vampire, and a dracolich. I bearly have enough time to piss my pants and I appear back in the room. Phew...I give them some story of my uberness. Evidently it was a Crypt Thing and Baldin smoked it.

As we are examining the statues, they reach out and punch Terra and Gildere. I got 3 on me but I am a tumbling mofo and all three miss. I get three of them to follow me, but they are swinging at me. I see Endel drop 2 and all of a sudden there are like 8 versions of Gildere around the room. I turn and trip over my feet and fall and hit a pew. I'm screwed, but I suck it, get up and get back into bouncing around. They miss when they go to hit. So it gets down to just the three stones, the other 4 irons and 3 stones were dropped. Endel, Gildere and Baldin come over to where I am and take out the remaining three stones. I stand up, wipe the sweat from my brow and see Baldin rushing to the side of Terra who remains motionless.

Baldin does his thing and Terra rises. She doesn't look all that different, but she says she's weaker. I'm searching around while she's recovering, and find a lever on the altar. We decide to take it easy and wait until Terra can make her Mordencai's Magnificant Mansion. We get a good night's sleep, I don't need it, but the rest of these guys do so I'm ok with it.

We get up in the morning and get ready to go. I pull the lever and there is a ladder down, I fade into shadows and descend down. I hear the sound of a sarcophagus, I grab the sides of the ladder and slide down, when I hit the bottom, I slide out of the way.

We see a crypt and three sarcophus..es. There are 8 crypt openings on either side and on the back as well. So...27 or so bad guys...BRING IT ON!!!!! [/joe swanson]. As we engage the mummies, the greater mummy in the middle raises his holy symbol and shouts, "By the power of Anubis, be gone!!!" Baldin turns around and starts climbing up the ladder...great. Gildere puts up a wall of fire that encompasses the half of the room where the greater mummy is (and Endel). Luckily Endel has some nice armor that busts up fire/lightning/cold damage (just can't combine them). Terra puts up a second wall of fire. The next thing I know, Endel is charging out of the fire and swings at Gildere...WTF!!! I leave the three mummies and attempt to go and iron bands Endel..I miss. crap! Gildere appears to disappear and Endel swings at Terra and cuts into her. I bands and get it this round. I make my save vs. Terra's color spray and Endel flexes but the bands hold. The greater mummy appears from the fire, Terra flys up the ladder and I dimension door behind the greater mummy and miss...figures. The big guy takes a swing at me and misses. Next round I stick him and he appears to be getting long in the tooth. Gildere whines and falls over and lies motionless. I stick the big mummy again and 4 ogres appear from the ground. Thank goodness they swung at the mummies (3 still standing) and 14 Terras are now around the room. Three Kyrees show up and they all attack the bad mummy. He's still standing at the end of the round, so next round I stick him and he falls over dead. Woohoo!!! Beware the Mummy killing halfling.

And we wake up...

So we are sitting here in the middle of the wilderness on some foreign world. The sphere-ish thing from the holy guys were keeping skeletons/undead/etc at bay from us, when we woke up this morning they have dissipated.

Two months later, we arrive at the keep. The journey was fairly uneventful, mainly because we are all high level and have two paladins with us. The Keep is on a steep hill, each side besides the one with the road to the door is sheer. Probably unscalable. We walk up in two rows of three..

Baldin - Aidan - Gildere
Endel - Terra - Sabathius(NPC)

A 9 yr old ghost boy appears before us. When we get within 20 feet of him and he talks to Baldin "Why are you here?" "We're here to speak to your lord." "Are you going to release him from his exile?" "We weren't aware that he was exiled." The boy smirks and vanishes.

We make it to the keep, the gate opens and we enter the courtyard. The guard barracks to the left and stables to the right. Gildere suggests we check out the barracks but we all agree to go to the keep instead. "Do you go and snoop around people's houses when you are invited in?"

We walk up to the main keep building and enter. As we are in the foryer, there is no light, except from Terra's staff. A ghost floats up to us and asks us to follow it. We follow and Endel asks," where are we going" the Ghost doesn't respond. It leads us to a grand ballroom with a throne. There are two chairs on one side and one on the other. This room is lit. There is a man in black armor at the base of the dias, apparently it's a death knight. The ghost walks up to the death knight, whispers to him and then walks to the side and dissipates.

"Are you the lord of this keep," Terra says. "Some would say that, my name is Lucious." Terra gives him the spiel and he tells us that Kurgen never attacked the keep just his army did. "Can you help us or not," said Baldin. "Help you with what?" "We need to know the information about how you turned away Kurgen's army, he threatens us now." The death knight tells us that he can't leave the keep and he has a task for us and if we complete this task, then he'll tell us anything he knows about Kurgen.

"There is a being, I want you to kill..shouldn't be to hard for you to kill, it is a lich," Lucious said to Baldin. "Why" "Because he's the one that turned me into a death knight." Each one agrees so far except for Sabathius and Baldin. Sabathius decides to stay behind and figure out what doesn't quite add up. "The lich's place is 3 weeks to the south."

As we are leaving the keep, Baldin brings up the fact that liches are usually servants to death knights. We all found this worrysome because this Lucious guy should have been able to take down this lich on his own. We discuss what a lich is and pool our thoughts about them. Marching order -

Gildere
Terra - Baldin - Aidan
Endel

We have to stay close in order to gain the protection from the paladin, yadda yadda. I don't quite understand anything.

Baldin's Divinition response was "The phalactery can be found if you jump down the right path". So, within a week of where we are, the phalactery is there. Hopefully it's at the place we are going (no guarentees). So as long as we stay on our current path with the current goal in mind, we should be ok.

As we are traveling south, we come to a crossroads. Aidan and endel have noticed that we are traveling on a road, we continue south towards the Lich's area.

After about 3 days, we are entering a ruined city. The undead have stopped attacking (or rather attempting to attack us) for about 2 hours. I pull out my grapple and make an etching in the ground to know where we have been. Baldin pulls out a spoon and buries it. We move farther into the city, we come across two temples. Both are pretty "standard" issue type stuff and we keep moving on.

About 15 minutes farther into the city, we come across the temple of Athena. Baldin points out that this is the same temple of the symbol that was on the Death Knight. Athena is the god of Wisdom and Combat. As we walk through the gates, Gildere appears to be in pain. My made spellcraft roll shows me that this is a symbol spell of pain (he's got -4 to hit, -2 dex). Yes...this is the 3rd straight save that Gildere has missed. There is a graveyard on the right side of the temple and I hear a noise behind the temple (since I missed my uber hear noise, I don't know what kind of noise it is).

A Dracolich jumps on top of the temple and peers towards us, I break left with Endel. The Dragoclich breathes and I take...120 damage. I fall over dead.

....
Terra goes dimension door and alter reality...I fail my saving throw again. HAX!!!

It jumps down from the temple and attacks Endel. Endel is slashed and torn but is still in one piece.

...that is where this end right now...because I'm dead.
